The crash happened on State Route 115 when the operator of a flat-bed tow truck suffered a medical emergency, and crossed into oncoming traffic just before 8:10 p.m. in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania State Police said at a press conference.

The tow truck struck the school bus head-on. Both drivers suffered moderate injuries and the children, students at Bear Creek Community Charter School, suffered minor injuries. All were taken to the hospital for treatment and evaluation, police said.

Route 115 was closed from Laurel Run Road to East Mountain Boulevard.
